First death from COVID-19 reinfection reported

Oxford University has reported the first death case of an 89-year-old woman in the Netherlands after being re-infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to Dutch scientists, “a woman who suffered from a form of blood cell disease and immunodeficiency contracted the disease for the second time about two months after the first symptoms of coronavirus appeared”.

Health sources indicated that “the woman’s health deteriorated seriously a few days after she became infected with the virus for the second time, and two weeks after she was admitted to hospital, she died”.

Virologist Marion Koopmans announced at the end of August that a second infection had been discovered for the first time in an elderly patient with weakened immune systems.
