Humanitarian Affairs Council discusses int’l orgs’ work mechanism

Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Abdelmohsen Tawoos on Sunday chaired a meeting to discuss the mechanism of international organizations’ work.

The meeting, which was attended by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)’s Director for the Middle East and North Africa George Khoury and director of the OCHA office in Yemen Aidan O’leary, touched on ways to enhancing partnership and coordination to overcome the problems and difficulties facing the humanitarian action.

At the meeting, Tawoos stressed the need to strengthen the partnership between the parties working in the humanitarian field to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people due to the continual aggression and siege.

He urged the international organizations to work transparently in implementing their projects through the relevant authorities in coordination with the Council.

In turn, OCHA’s Regional Director appreciated the Council’s efforts and its endeavors to find solutions for issues related to humanitarian affairs.

Khoury affirmed that constructive discussions and periodic meetings between organizations and the council would contribute positively to overcoming difficulties to ensure the progress of humanitarian work in Yemen.
