Coronavirus death cases rise to 2,345 in China
The infected cases of the new coronavirus in the country by the end of Friday have risen to 76,288, including 2,345 death cases, Chinese authorities said Saturday, adding that 20,659 people have recovered from treatment.
“The Health Commission of China has received data from 31 provinces, confirming that 76,288, people were infected, and currently we have 284,53 patients, including 11,477 in critical health, 2,345 people died of infection, and 20,659 people were discharged from hospital after recovering,” the National Health Committee of China said in a statement.
The central province of Hubei, the epicenter of the virus outbreak, recorded 109 new deaths, including 90 in the provincial capital, Wuhan.
At December 31,2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) of an outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan city, in the central part of the country, and has since spread the virus to several countries.
Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the “emerging coronavirus” in China as an epidemic and declared an “international-led health emergency”.
