Fisheries Ministry denounces attacks on fishermen in Aden

Fisheries Wealth Ministry denounced the continued attacks and harassment against fishermen in the occupied coastal provinces in general and Aden province in particular.

In a statement, a copy of which was , the Ministry condemned the shooting of the fisherman, Fahim Abdul Rahman Zaid Bajash, by the guards of the mercenary leaders’ palace in Al-Ma’ashiq, Aden province, which led to his being seriously injured.

The statement indicated that the information the Ministry received from the Sirah Gulf Fishermen’s Association indicated that a number of fishermen moved with their colleagues on board their boat last Wednesday morning to practice fishing, and they were not aware of the presence of mercenaries lurking around them.

The official confirmed that there is pressure exerted by the Saudi side against the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in the mercenary government to expel fishermen and expel them from their places of livelihood next to the Ma’ashiq.

The statement called on civil society and human rights organizations to stand in solidarity with the fishermen and work to investigate these incidents, open the file of the restricted area, and work to extract the fishermen’s rights to a decent living.

It expressed the Ministry’s dissatisfaction with the detention of fishermen’s boats for long periods and the threat of heavy gunfire with the aim of intimidating them and preventing them from practicing the fishing profession near Qasr Ma’ashiq.

The statement called for these incidents to be investigated, those responsible held accountable, and to ensure that they are not repeated in the future.
