Fisheries Ministry condemns aggression’s ships to pollute Gulf of Aden waters

The Ministry of Fisheries condemned in the strongest terms the action of one of the aggression’s ships for throwing hundreds of tons of waste into the Gulf of Aden waters.

The ministry stated in a statement that it had received reports from fishermen and fish cooperative societies in Aden and Abyan that a ship belonging to the aggression had dumped hundreds of tons of waste, most of which were organic dead livestock, in the Gulf of Aden, specifically in the stream between Aden and Shaqra Abyan.

The ministry revealed that many dead livestock floated in the coasts along the area from Ras Al-Ara in Lahj province to Ahwar in Abyan province, which poses a great threat to public health and the marine environment.

The statement called on the concerned international organizations to hold accountable the parties that carry out these attacks and contribute to protecting marine waters from them.

It also denounced the failure of the so-called Coast Guard in Aden to play its role after receiving reports from fishermen.

The Ministry of Fisheries affirmed its position rejecting these irresponsible behaviors that violate international and local law. It called on the United Nations and all international organizations to assume responsibility in protecting the marine environment , the interests of fishermen, and to hold accountable those seeking to destroy the marine environment and harm fish stocks in the Gulf of Aden.
