Foreign Ministry denounces Security Council statement on Yemen

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned on Friday the Security Council’s recent press statement on Yemen and attempt to manipulate the handling of the facts of events and adopt double standards and accused Sana’a of constituting a threat to the peace process in Yemen and to maritime security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Yemeni News Agency (SABA) received a copy of “”Although Sana ‘a has taken formalized steps and actions,
by clarifying its position to the world earlier and communicating with all countries, oil companies and those oil tankers, That it will not allow the wealth of the Yemeni people to be plundered within its internationally recognized borders, In doing so, it assumed its responsibility under the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen and international law to defend the country’s sovereignty and safeguard the interests and wealth of the Yemeni people against any looting or abuse “.

It called on the Security Council to understand the nature of the warning message implemented by the armed forces in its correct context without any interpretation, it was not an aggressive or offensive message in the middle of the sea or the international navigation route rather, it was a warning message inside Yemeni territorial waters aimed at deterring those who Salt themselves to continue plundering and stealing Yemen’s oil and natural wealth.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the letter did not result in any human injury or material damage to the facilities due to their precautionary nature at this stage, with options left open for a wider range of stringent measures towards those thinking of trying to replicate the plunder of natural wealth from all Yemeni land and ports.

Sana ‘a remained serious about a just and honourable peace and supported the endeavours of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen.

“The UN envoy’s endeavours must be accompanied by serious steps to end aggression and lift the total blockade, through the implementation of urgent humanitarian steps that address the consequences of the humanitarian disaster, the most important of which is not to hinder the entry of vessels loaded with petroleum derivatives and domestic gas to the port of Hodeida not to place obstacles on commercial airlines companies to arrive and depart from and to Sana ‘a International Airport without setting any preconditions; as well as to begin seriously and take practical steps to pay the salaries of all State employees without exception, the necessary financial resources are available through the export of Yemeni oil and gas. ”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed its call to the Security Council to investigate the facts and not to be drawn to use it as a Council for the Interests of Specific and Influential States and as a Security Council for all States of the world to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the purposes of the Charter of the United Nations.

Urging the Security Council to work towards a new binding resolution that would create a climate for the commencement of negotiations on a peaceful political settlement towards a comprehensive peace that preserves the unity and stability of the territory of the Republic of Yemen and establishes sound neighbourly relations based on the principle of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.
