Rights Center Condemns Civilian Casualties in Explosion of Cluster Bomb Remnant of US-Saudi Aggression in Hodeidah

Eye of Humanity Center (Ain al-Insiyah Center) for Human Rights and Development condemned the killing and wounding of a group of civilians, including children and women, as a result of the explosion of a cluster bomb remnants of the Saudi-led aggression in Hodeidah.

On Wednesday, two children were killed and four other citizens, including a woman, were wounded by remnants of a cluster bomb dropped by the US-Saudi aggression in Hodeidah governorate.

The remnants of the US-Saudi cluster bombs have claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent citizens since the first day of the aggression.

“This crime is, according to the international humanitarian legal description included in the four Geneva Conventions and the two annexed Protocols, a war crime,” the Eye of Humanity Center stated in a statement on Thursday. ”The description does not accept interpretation or controversy, as the targets are safe civilian children.”

The statement said that international humanitarian law contains rules and principles that aim to provide protection mainly to people who are not taking part in the hostilities.

“One of the basic rules of international humanitarian law requires that care be taken to distinguish between civilians and combatants.”

The Center called for the formation of an international investigation committee into the crimes committed by the Saudi-led coalition against innocent civilians.

It also condemned the silence of the international community and international bodies and organizations, foremost of which is the United Nations, which stands by and watches over what the aggression and their mercenaries commit against Yemenis.
