Hadi Minster admits Eritrea attacks on Yemeni fishermen, ignores its occupations of Hanish Islands
Hadi government has confirmed repeated attacks by Eritrean naval forces on Yemen’s islands, territorial waters and Fishermen, after it became impossible to deny the attacks by documenting these attacks with visual and written reports from fishermen.
Fish Wealth Minister in coalition-backed government, Fahd Kafayen, said that Eritrean naval forces must stop their attack on fishermen in Yemen’s territorial waters.
“The attacks were the latest two days ago, according to reports we received from the Red Sea Fisheries Authority, the Fisheries Cooperative Union and the fishermen themselves,” he wrote on a Facebook post on Thursday.
“These practices are unacceptable,” he said.
He called on Eritrean authorities “to release the detained Yemeni fishermen, handover the confiscated equipment, and to halt its attacks.”
But the Hadi government has not yet acknowledged the Eritrea’s occupation of Yemen’s Hanish Islands, with the support of the United Arab Emirates and the direct complicity of its man , Tariq Afash.
