Ministry of Information condemns closure of Al-Jazeera office in occupied territories by Zionist entity

The Ministry of Information strongly condemned the Israeli occupation government’s closure of Al-Jazeera’s office in the occupied territories, preventing it from covering the aggression on Gaza.

The Ministry of Information said in a statement issued today that the closure of the Al-Jazeera office aims to silence the media that covers the war of extermination committed by the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry considered this decision a flagrant violation of press freedom and the right to access information, and an attempt by the Zionist enemy to prevent further revelations of facts and crimes committed against the Palestinian people. She pointed out that this closure coincides with World Press Freedom Day, which confirms the reality of this terrorist Zionist entity as the first enemy of the press and journalists.

It pointed out that this decision is not new to this repressive entity, as it was preceded by the closure of Al-Mayadeen TV in November last year, and comes within the framework of the crimes of the Zionist entity against the press and journalists, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 140 Palestinian journalists since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza.

The ministry expressed solidarity with Al Jazeera, which is being systematically targeted by the Zionist authorities. She called on Arab and international press, human rights and humanitarian institutions, organizations and unions to condemn and denounce the repressive methods against the media and the attacks practiced by the Zionist entity against the media and the press.
