Human Rights Office in Taiz Calls International Community to Investigate US-Saudi Aggression Crimes

The Human Rights Office in Taiz Governorate affirmed that the international community must pave the way towards achieving accountability for the serious crimes and violations committed by the Aggression in Taiz Governorate and Yemen in general.

In a statement on International Human Rights Day, the Human Rights Office in Taiz called on the international community to investigate war crimes and the aggression’s serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights. The statement mentioned the violations and crimes committed by the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries against civilians and directly targeted their gathering places. The attacks of the aggression coalition and its mercenaries have affected residential communities, citizens’ homes, refugee camps, wedding halls, funerals, markets and others.

The statement indicated that the number of victims in Taiz since the beginning of the aggression has reached nearly 4,580 civilians, most of them women and children. The aggression deliberately targeted the civilian infrastructure with various types of internationally prohibited weapons.

The Human Rights Office called on the international community to bear responsibility by implementing laws and bringing perpetrators of violations and crimes to trial, not celebrating International Human Rights Day and raising slogans. It denounced the persistence of the countries that claim to protect human rights in selling weapons that are used in violation of international humanitarian law.
