Typhoon Maysak hits the Korean Peninsula

Strong winds and torrential rain have lashed most of the Korean Peninsula on Thursday, after Typhoon Maysak made landfall, Reuters reported.

This came as efforts continued to repair the damage caused by a hurricane that struck the region last week, while a third cyclone is forming off the coast, according to Reuters.

Typhoon Maysak is the fourth to hit the peninsula this year, and it is one of the strongest hurricanes it has witnessed in years. It is expected to hit most of the two Koreas,

Hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed, and the city of Busan in southern South Korea was hit by strong winds as it fell directly into the path of the typhoon.

Typhoon warnings and torrential rains were issued in most of the rest of South Korea, which this year has seen the longest stretch of rainy weather, causing deadly floods and landslidesز
