Emirati Individuals Storm Socotra Airport with Force, Smuggle Wanted Persons

Local sources said on Sunday that gunmen from the so-called Emirati-backed security belt and southern transitional council helped 33 people fled the island, among them some who are wanted for security authorities.

The sources pointed out that these individuals passed through the security barriers of the airport by force and put those wanted persons on a private Emirati plane that headed to Abu Dhabi without referring to any legal procedures.

In this context, the invited Ramzi Mahrous, appointed by the pro-US-Saudi aggressing governoment as governor of Socotra governorate, presented a note to Hadi about the incident.

The Emirati memo states that “Emirati workers, who are still carrying out activities under humanitarian missions in the governorate, have entered the area of Socotra by force, taking with them members of Socotra who cooperated with them, and they boarded the Emirati plane without the tower’s permission and without taking security and regular measures to take off as usual.”

Socotra is the largest of the archipelago of the same name, consisting of 6 islands, a strategic location in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of the Horn of Africa, near the Gulf of Aden.
