Al-Hamli meets head of new ICRC delegation in Yemen

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met on Saturday with Daphne Marit here on Saturday with head of the new ICRC delegation to Yemen.

In the meeting, Al-Hamli praised the efforts of the former ICRC’s Head of Delegation in Yemen Katharina Ritz and her role in strengthening the partnership with the Council to serve the humanitarian work. He stressed the importance of the role played by the ICRC in alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.

He stressed the Council’s keenness to provide the necessary facilities to the delegation and its personnel to enable them to play their role to the fullest.

Al-Hamli pointed to the need for further coordination between the Council and the delegation to facilitate the implementation of the delegation’s activities in Yemen in order to achieve the common goal of the humanitarian action.

He expressed the hope that the work of the mission would continue at a serious pace and that the matters agreed upon with the Committee in the previous period would be implemented. He urged the delegation to implement projects of a sustainable nature according to the priorities of need.

The Secretary-General of the Humanitarian Affairs Council hailed the delegation’s establishment of the Artificial Limbs Center in Sa’ada province, which contains equipment that will contribute to the advancement of the health sector in the province.

For her part, the new head of the ICRC delegation stressed that the ICRC is interested in contributing to alleviating the humanitarian crisis and working in a coordinated context with the Council to ensure the success of its interventions in a guaranteed manner.

The former ICRC’s Head Katharina Ritz expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Humanitarian Affairs Council in providing facilities to the delegation during her tenure.
