Hadramout witnesses angry popular protests against rise in fuel prices

Mukalla city, the capital of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, witnessed on Saturday popular protests denouncing the rise in the prices of oil derivatives and the collapse of the national currency.

Protesters blocked several streets, burned tires, and erected concrete barriers, through which they obstructed traffic.

The national currency (Riyal) has recently witnessed a historical decline against foreign currencies in the areas controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, reaching a limit of 1,400 riyals per dollar, while the price of the Saudi riyal reached 360 riyals today, Saturday.
