Huge money paid by Abu Dhabi to its militias in order to takeover Socotra Island
The authorities of the UAE have reportedly paid thousands of dirhams to its mercenary militias in the Yemeni province of Socotra, on the pretext of paying salaries. According to sources reporting on Tuesday, this bribe was made in order incite the mercenaries to further aggression and to facilitate the establishment of full Emirati colonial control over the island,
According to the Al-Mahrah Post pro-invasion website, the so-called Security Belt militia has received 1,500 dirhams for each of its individual members.
According to the source, the money was handed over to the militias after the arrival of Emirati representative Khalfan Mubarak Al Mazrouei Abu Mubarak on Monday. Abu Mubarak, who comes from the emirate of Abu Dhabi, arrived illegally in Socotra aboard a special flight.
The Emirati envoy brought with him large sums of money in order to exploit the militias and incite them against the remains of Saudi-backed Hadi government forces, thus undermining the last leftovers of Yemeni control over the island.
The same source stated that what the UAE is doing in Socotra reveal its real objectives and ambitions in the conflict, which is to colonise and take over Yemeni territory.
Over the past two days, the Hadi regime “governor” of Socotra, Ramzi Mahrous, has refused permission for any outside formations to be deployed, fearing that they will be used for activities that will undermine the nation.
Nevertheless, the island of Socotra is witnessing an unprecedented escalation with the arrival of troops loyal to the UAE about a week ago. The UAE is reportedly preparing to impose those forces on the island as part of its efforts to control them completely.
This would create a situation similar to the military presence of the Security Belt forces in Aden and the Elite Forces in both Hadhramaut and Shabwah. In all of these areas, the UAE has all but taken over control.
Since May 2018, Socotra has been witnessing unprecedented tension following the dispatch of military occupation forces loyal to the UAE, which has provoked fierce reactions from local residents and Yemenis of both north and south, after they found their island threatened by foreign military forces.
